About Joshua
Combining a 159 GRE Quantitative score with years of experience tutoring Grades 1–12, I transform complex mathematical concepts into clear, intuitive logic. Through Joshua's Science Academy, I bridge foundational arithmetic and advanced algebra using interactive digital tools tailored to each student's learning style. As an econometrics researcher, my approach goes beyond memorizing formulas. I teach analytical problem-solving, pattern recognition, and critical thinking. I excel at demystifying intimidating topics, eliminating math anxiety, and building lasting academic confidence. Whether helping primary students master core fundamentals or guiding secondary students through complex coursework, I deliver structured, high-impact instruction that drives measurable score improvements and fosters a genuine appreciation for mathematics.

I don't just explain a concept and move on, I build it, test it, and rebuild it until it sticks. Every lesson I run follows a simple rhythm: teach a concept clearly with real examples, then immediately check understanding with a short quiz or practice set before moving forward. This isn't a one-time test at the end of the week. It's built into the lesson itself, so I catch confusion in the moment it happens, not days later when it's harder to fix.
I've used this method with students like Michelle (Grade 6, Alberta curriculum) and Nedu (Grade 4), covering topics from integers and negative numbers to factors and early algebra. Rather than rushing through content, I slow down at the exact point a student struggles, re-teach it a different way, and test again, so we only move forward once the concept is actually solid, not just "covered."
This approach works because math is cumulative — a shaky foundation in one topic quietly wrecks the next five. By testing between every major concept instead of at the end of a unit, I catch small gaps before they become big ones, and students walk away actually confident, not just familiar.
