About Vishwas

Hello! I'm a High school English Tutor with experience across years 7-12, including HSC students. During my HSC, I received exam marks of 94/100 in Advanced English and 45/50 in Extension 1 English. I currently major in English within a B. Commerce/Arts at UNSW and hold a Distinction.

I enjoy teaching English because it is a window into the lives of others; their hope, suffering, joy, anger, etc. Literature allows us to learn from the mistakes and successes of others. As such, I encourage and equip my students to engage deeply with their set texts as the foundation for strong analytical and creative writing.

I take a long term approach to tutoring, building skills that are directly relevant to the HSC and beyond. I also aim to foster my students' appreciation and enjoyment of English, recognising that excelling at a subject that is perceived as uninteresting and unvaluable is difficult.

About the lesson

I am well versed in the concepts and many texts of the NSW English syllabus. Majoring in English at University continues to expose me to more advanced ideas and texts, which informs how I tutor.

My intentions as a tutor form around three interconnected goals gathered from the English syllabus:

1) Building my students' ability to think critically about texts
2) Enabling them to communicate their findings about texts
3) Applying encountered literature/literary techniques to creative writing

These goals ultimately build the ability to think critically and write effectively. My lessons work towards these goals through writing activities, detailed feedback, modelled responses, readings of texts, and other activities. Work completed in sessions complements content completed at school and also aims to foster long-term development, particularly in view of HSC exams.

At the end of every lesson, I send a lesson overview so that parents remain in the loop. Additionally, I am contactable throughout the week for feedback.

Vishwas knows the syllabus in and out and is able to teach you how to write according to the syllabus with simplicity. Many places find ways to complicate english but Vishwas makes things easy and simple yet equally effective.
