About Anthony
I began my schooling adventure in a Montessori classroom and public elementary schools in Canoga Park, CA. Drawn to the freedom of self-directed learning, I convinced my parents to homeschool me--an experience that deepened my passion for education. A bike accident at age 12 landed me in the ER, where I saw my first X-ray images. That moment sparked a lifelong curiosity, leading to a love of Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. I spent a year abroad in Peru for high school language immersion, then pursued a B.S. in Biochemistry and Mathematical Studies. During my third year, I joined a DOE/ACS sponsored program and spent the summer of 2019 in the Bay Area learning studying radiochemistry. Most recently, I completed a PhD in Chemistry, conducting research in applied accelerator physics. While earning my doctorate, I worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduate chemistry courses--and found deep fulfillment in helping students grow. It's that experience, and my commitment to empowering learners, that brings me here.

Based on your goals, I focus on referencing fundamental knowledge and building your intuition with historical background. A typical lesson revolves around a practical application and associated real-world problems. A given 1-hr session could involve: 5 min establishing objectives 5 min description and discussion of a few real-world problems 10 min identification and discussion of requisite knowledge 5 min problem demonstration 15 min guided problem solving 10 min independent practice time 5 min practice feedback 5 min advice for further development after session I think laughter cements learning. Thus, chemistry comedy is a priority. Lessons can be catered to anyone from new students to experienced undergraduates regardless of mastery.
