About Adam
I am currently an engineer working for a small, early-stage medical device company. My undergraduate degree is in chemical and biomolecular engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. As a somewhat recent college grad, I have a firm grasp on what it means to be a student, and a great appreciation for how much interest and fundamental understanding of a topic truly enhance an instructors effectiveness. My passion for math science, and the general challenge of conveying information in an interesting and understandably way have always drawn me towards education.
I have been tutoring middle school through college subjects since I was in high school myself, and have classroom experience as a 9th grade engineering instructor after attaining my bachelors.
Perhaps most uniquely, I also have extensive experience in informal educational environments. I spent five years at a summer camp with an acute educational agenda, blending personal connections and creative planning to convey information and inspire campers.

The technical details of my educational approach will vary because I believe the most important aspects of effective learning is engagement on a personal level. I excel at connecting with students and understanding what he or she may need. I can tutor math (ranging from middle school algebra through college level partial differential equations), science (with a focus in chemistry, physics, and biology), SAT, GRE prep, and more at a wide array of levels.
My focus is always less on arriving at an answer, and more on teaching students how to think about and approach problems. It is one thing to guide a pupil through a problem, but it is an entirely another animal to have a student feel like a concept is entirely understood and can be applied in a new way. Through patience and deep understanding, I firmly believe that any student can walk away genuinely understanding concepts that once felt daunting beyond recourse.
