About Thomas

I believe in putting the education first; no student should fall behind in their studies due to inadequate teaching, this is why I have always adapted my teaching style to my student's personalities so as to best cater to their needs. I am passionate when it comes to tutoring as I have been on the receiving end of poor teaching methods in school. I have applied the skills that I learned from my own experience in teaching myself as well as with the tutors I have had throughout my school life. My tutees back home in Argentina have always enjoyed my style of teaching as I appreciate how hard some subjects are and will go through them over and over until we are both satisfied with the understanding of the topic.

As a fourth-year chemical engineering student, I have a quite in-depth understanding of maths, physics, and chemistry. Throughout these four years, I can attest that having a strong base in these three subjects is key to a successful higher education. As more knowledge is hard to acquire when the core subjects haven’t been understood properly, just like building a house needs a strong foundation so does any university degree.

Coming from Argentina and having a French mother I learned Spanish and French before learning English, having taken all three languages at A - Level standard I am confident that my teaching skills are more than adequate to fit any student wishing to learn a foreign language.

Having been tutoring throughout summers I am well acquainted with the GCSE, A Levels, and IB curriculums and will keep myself updated to any changes so as not to teach any outdated material.

To understand my student's issues, I like to go through all the problems my tutees have had in their subjects to figure out the best approach to my teaching. I like having an interactive lesson with a lot of back and forth so as to make sure any subject we are covering is being understood to its fullest. Starting from the basics is key, it makes for simple and easy lessons in an amiable and friendly environment. Hard subjects are broken down into digestible amounts so as not to burden the student and make the learning experience pleasant and even fun. Struggling through grueling topics should be a thing of past, and complicated subjects when taught properly should awaken the interest of the tutee and thus make it more appealing.
