About Mia

Hello reader!
My name is Mia. I am a part-time elementary tutor and a full-time college student. I always shock my elementary students by telling them that I am a student just like them!! I study Medical Assisting and Medical Sonography. But when I am not working or studying, I am a pretty chill gal. I love to adventure, but also love to stay home and relax.

About the lesson

Teaching Method and Techniques:
As a tutor for elementary students (K–5), I focus on making learning fun, engaging, and easy to understand. I use a hands-on, interactive approach that includes games, visuals, songs, and stories to help young learners stay interested and excited about learning. I also use positive reinforcement and lots of encouragement to build confidence. I always meet students where they are and adapt my teaching to fit their learning style—whether they need help sounding out words, building math skills, or focusing on reading comprehension.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
Each lesson is structured but flexible, allowing room for creativity and student participation:

Warm-Up (5 minutes): A quick review or a fun activity to get the brain warmed up.

Main Lesson (15–20 minutes): Introduction of the topic using colorful visuals, real-world examples, and interactive tools (like whiteboards or learning apps).

Guided Practice (10–15 minutes): We work through problems or reading passages together.

Independent Practice (5–10 minutes): The student tries a few problems or tasks on their own with support if needed.

Wrap-Up (5 minutes): We review what we learned and celebrate progress with a quick game or encouraging words.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
I combine patience, creativity, and a caring attitude. I understand that every child learns differently, and I create a safe, encouraging space where they feel confident to ask questions, try new things, and grow. I bring energy and joy to each session, using playful methods to teach serious skills. I also help kids develop good study habits, stay organized, and believe in their own abilities. Most importantly, I treat each student as a unique learner with their own pace and strengths.
