About George
My name is George Lait (They/them), I am an Oxbridge undergraduate studying Mathematics and Philosophy. I studied my GCSE's and A-levels at Chosen Hill, being only one of two students to take Further Mathematics. Throughout my time there, I competed annually in the UKMT Maths Challenge and consistently got high marks.
I am capable of teaching any student mathematics up to A-level (but not Further maths). My methodology is that a deep understand of a topic is far more important than being able to just pass exams.

When I teach, I like to break down concepts visually so that the student can get a deep understand on how and why a method works the way it does.
When I help a student learn a new topic, I use a training wheel approach where I give plenty of support to begin with but then slowly remove it until the student is working independently.
In every lesson, I have three main objectives which I try to complete in order; the student understands the topic from a base level, the student can answer questions independently on the topic, the student can apply the skills to harder questions.
My sessions are split into two thirty minute sections with a ten minute intermission. The intermission is important as being overworked will only make you perform worse and will allow for the information to settle to not overwhelm my student. It will also give me time to do any extra preparation so that I can better aid in supporting the students needs.
