About Gabriel

I am at Oxford University studying a Masters in Politics, where I have been awarded several academic scholarships. I hold a first-class degree in PPE from Warwick, where I ranked in the top 2% in a cohort of 220 and won the Examiners’ Prize for Exceptional Performance in PPE. Before embarking on my Oxford Masters, I also received offers and competitive scholarships from both Cambridge and LSE.

Over the past 3 years my students have achieved consistent A*s at A-Level and Firsts at university through my focus on logical structure and exam technique. My personal experience has honed my ability to unlock the potential in my students, build up their confidence and help them truly excel!

My approach in a nutshell:
★ Transform subject knowledge into stellar results through exam technique
★ Develop essential skills in logical argumentation and essay structure
★ Everything can be interesting; it's about how it’s taught!

EXPERIENCE

I have tutored students at A-Level in Politics, Philosophy and RS across all major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel OCR), bringing undergraduate-level sophistication to their essays and achieving consistent A*s.

At degree level I have helped students produce first-class work through focusing on clarity of argumentation, quality of research, and question relevance.

As a student I conducted workshops on how to read, analyse and develop opinions on dense philosophical texts from thinkers including Kant and Hegel.

I can support students preparing for Oxbridge entrance through improving personal statements and elevating TSA scores.

I ran Politics and Philosophy practice interviews for 2025/26 Oxbridge candidates, with over half receiving offers.

My tutoring style is conversational and interactive, prioritising a positive relationship between myself and my students and nurturing a genuine interest for the subject. This allows me to then be rigorous and insist upon high standards within their work, and to provide regular, honest feedback that will help them excel.

At the core of what I teach all students is how to construct a cogent argument. The argument is the fundamental structure beneath all good essays, and it is this that turns ideas and knowledge into a coherent and compelling piece of work.

Learning how to (1) order your thoughts and (2) articulate them within writing are skills that will set students up for life, and yet are not taught widely enough!

* Politics *

I have studied political theory, political science and international relations throughout my undergraduate and masters degrees, and I am comfortable teaching in any area and at all levels. Having worked within the private sector advising CEOs and world leaders, my academic approach is based around maximising high-level understanding of themes and concepts in politics. Instead of ignoring the present when teaching political history or political theory, I weave in current affairs and recent news stories within all my lessons to give both real-world application and tailor my teaching to the interests of my students.

* Philosophy*

Having studied both analytic and continental philosophy from the Greeks to the present, my emphasis is on helping students develop their own critical opinions on the arguments found in primary texts. I do this through building their understanding of logical fallacies, argument structures, and reading techniques. I am also comfortable tutoring Religious Studies A-Levels, as I scored perfect marks in multiple papers when I took this subject myself.

MY LESSONS

During my first lesson, always done for free, I get to know my students' learning styles, understand their strengths, and identify areas to target for maximum improvement.

In subsequent sessions, I work with my students to refine their subject knowledge and offer feedback on their work, providing committed support to allow them to reach their potential. My skills lie in essay proofreading, evaluating and helping construct arguments, coaching through difficult readings, curriculum support, and exam prep.

I welcome any student who wants to improve their grades in Philosophy, Politics or a related discipline. Whether doing A-Levels or an Undergraduate degree, I know exactly how to achieve the top grades both from my own experience and from that of my previous students.

Lessons typically last for 1 hour and occur online, however this can be flexible for individual student's particular needs.
