About David
As an enormous bibliophile, I have an intense passion for exploration of the English language, of books and poems, and also for writing. To me, my English lessons with students mark not only an opportunity to work with them towards their goals (whether rooted in an exam focus, or simply in personal interest), but also a chance for me to pass on my love for the subject.
My aim in my sessions with students, beyond merely improving their English level and academic results, extends also to instilling in them the confidence, wherewithal and passion to continue exploring the English language and improving themselves long after my time with them has come to an end.

About the lesson

[ENGLISH LESSONS] METHODOLOGY:
- Lessons are typically booked for between 60-120 minutes.
- The first session involves: (i) a discussion of the student's needs/targets; (ii) looking closely at the student's exam syllabus and progress in class (if still a school student); (iii) a look together at passages (from books or poems) to gauge the student's level.
- Following sessions involve: (i) a 'skeleton' or 'backbone' that guides each lesson, with a particular goal or part of the syllabus tackled each week; (ii) time allotted to tackle material with which the student is struggling (i.e., from school); (iii) time allotted to review any homework that I have set for the student to complete; (iv) a period at the end left for us to tackle an interesting concept or passage together.
- Experience: 3.5 years teaching school students at both GCSE and A-Level. 1 year of experience tutoring primary school-aged children.
- Intended Students: any students seeking improvement and tutoring all the way up to GCSE and A-Level.
[UCAS APPLICATION AND INTERVIEW PREP] METHODOLOGY:
- Sessions dedicated to: (i) the review and editing of personal statements; (ii) mock interview sessions, followed by feedback and homework set for next time; (iii) reading recommendations.
- Experience: 2 years of experience tutoring UCAS applicants.
