About Caitlin

I'm currently a second year Oxford student with plenty of experience in both teaching and tutoring - I have taught literacy at primary school level alongside senior teaching staff, mentored prospective uni students through the Zero Gravity platform and am a student access ambassador at Oxford University! I have experience working with students and children with complex needs from anxiety/low self esteem to learning difficulties such as autism and Down's Syndrome. Of course, this will not directly apply to all student however I believe it makes me a tutor that is patient, sympathetic and most importantly, non-judgemental.

I myself am also a student from a low income, underprivileged background who largely had to learn how to study effectively and manage competitive university applications without much formal support. This not only makes me passionate about ensuring every student has equal opportunities, but also means I have unique experience and insight when it comes to being a student and a university applicant.

About the lesson

I approach mentoring with a highly individualistic approach; I believe that every student has their own personal needs and I will tailor my content accordingly. I'm always willing to change up my methods or try new things, all you have to do is ask!

In our first session we can have an informal and friendly chat about your goals for our time together. I will ask basic information about target and predicted grades, plans for post-education and the content you are covering in school - all of this information will be kept completely confidential. We will also discuss your main concerns or aims that you would like tutoring to address, no problem is too big or too small!

If you are happy to continue tutoring after our initial session I will begin tailoring lesson plans to your content and to your preferred learning style straight away. After each individual lesson I'll spend a quick five minutes reviewing the session with you, where you can let me know what is working and what else you'd like to try.

I believe whole-heartedly that education should be accessible and enjoyable for all students. My lessons will always prioritise creating a comfortable and constructive environment for you to learn and grow as a student.

My base rate is £10/hr however fees are negotiable depending on the level or nature of support a student may require. Please drop me a message if you are a low income or state school student and we can discuss options for reduced rates!

Cancellation is free up to 24 hours in advance of our session, cancellation within 24 hours of our planned session will incur a charge. Rescheduling a previously planned lesson will not be charged.
