About Ethan
I’m Ethan, an Oxford PPE graduate from Wellington, New Zealand. I offer tutoring in economics, maths, philosophy, and politics at International Baccalaureate and A-Level, plus coaching for Oxbridge admissions and essay competitions. I scored 7s in Higher Level Maths and Economics in the IB, won New Zealand Scholarships in Economics and Statistics, and studied microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics at Oxford. I’m also a keen philosopher, having topped my cohort in Feminist Theory, and ranked 2nd of over 500 undergraduates in the National Oxford Uehiro Prize in Practical Ethics.

I'm able to teach philosophy, politics, and economics at undergraduate level, and maths at A-Level or International Baccalaureate.
I’m newer to formal tutoring, but I’ve been teaching informally for years. Most recently, I spent a day helping a university student prepare for a maths for economics exam, focusing on optimisation and calculus. He expected around 25% but scored 55%, passing a crucial course.
I believe that students learn best when they’re genuinely curious, and that enthusiasm is contagious: when I’m engaged, they are too. I put real effort into making ideas click, whether through a clear diagram, a real-world example, or a different angle on a problem.
I'm flexible regarding lesson lengths and location. I'm available online now, and in London from late October.
