About Renee
With a degree in Literature from Oxford University, I have ample mexperience tutoring English secondary school age children, for both English and GCSE level French.
I always ensure my lessons are fun and informative as I make my priority to help young people do their best in whatever they have put their minds to.

To summarise my teaching in a simple phrase: 'carrot rather than stick'. I firmly believe that if the teaching is a fun and positive experience, a student can learn anything.
As someone who knows what it is like to be easily distracted, my lessons are as interactive as possible. This is achieved through constant conversation and checking in with my student. To encourage students to think for themselves, I tend not to give answers directly, but, through hints and guidance, will help students answer their own questions - self-guided problem solving is a crucial skill for successful examinations, as well as a key confidence booster for children of all ages.
Lessons start with a brief recap of material learnt and are organised on a termly/monthly basis. I am also an experience Occupational Therapy assistant so am able to work effectively with neurodiverse students.
For younger students, I would advise 30-40 minute lessons to maximise learning.
Breaks are included in lessons of all lengths.
