About Andrew

I graduated in 2016 from my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Economics & Management and Sociology, from the University of Oxford. I since moved to London to start my full-time graduate job in consulting and currently available for part-time tutoring work, to pass on my skills and knowledge, and help students achieve their desired grades! My current students predominantly consist of Russell Group university (LSE, Bath, Durham, Warwick, Surrey, York, KCL) and A-Level economics students. I was awarded with an Open Scholarship by Jesus College (Oxford) for exceptional performance in university examinations. At A-Level, I received the Shepherd and Allen Awards for best performances in A-Level History, Economics and German. I achieved 100% in 3 of 4 economics papers and 2 of 3 history examinations, and 94% overall in A-Level Mathematics (dropping only 3 marks for the 3 AS Core & Stats papers). Aside from academia, I played both football and squash at academy, county and university-level, and I`m a fully-qualified ESR squash coach! Given my experience of the 11+, TSA entrance exam (2nd highest mark in UK), and Oxbridge interview process, I`m also available to tutor in school/university entrance exams/interviews.

About the lesson

Coming through the Oxford tutorial system as well as my sister being a full-time teacher, I understand what makes a great difference to the educational experience. The approach must always be student-centred, focused on their style of learning. The main aim will be to harness and utilise the student's strengths, whilst correcting the weaknesses. These may be essay structure, planning, analysis, content, method. The session will involve an action plan and working through questions/papers/exams to make sound progress. I`ve had plenty of experience in tutoring since the age of 16 - primarily in Economics, Maths and History. I`ve always had an interest in helping others - whether this be fellow students in my class throughout school, or my cousins and nieces before they even started school!

It is usually mutually beneficial to arrange a regular slot for tuition in order to ensure progress is made efficiently and effectively. I usually insist on 1.5-2 hour sessions to ensure that the session is most productive and negates the percentage of time taken up through travel Please note that cancellations made up to 48 hours before will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.
