About Oliver
Hey! My name is Oliver, and I am a second-year student studying English Language and Literature at Magdalen College, University of Oxford. I achieved two 9s in my English GCSEs and an A* (with a mark of 200/200) in my English Literature A-Level. This year, I was awarded a first in my preliminary English exams at Oxford, as well as being awarded the Mrs Claude Beddington Prize for the best results in preliminary English exams in the entire university. I'm a friendly and agreeable university student who knows exactly how Oxbridge admissions want students to come across. As an English student at Oxford who got in from a state school, I am well acquainted with the tutorial-style flexible thinking Oxbridge demand from their students, and I know exactly how to put this across in a tutoring session, using collaborative techniques to give students the skills they need to excel in a personal statement or interview.

As an Oxford English student who has been through the application process, I know exactly what Oxbridge are looking for in a candidate, and exactly how to put this across in a personal statement and interview. My methodology is focused on teaching students how to apply tutorial-style flexible thinking to clearly and convincingly put across their passion in a personal statement, and to succeed in their interview. Session length is up to you, but I am used to teaching for around an hour per session, which provides the opportunity to go over work previously set, talk about literary interests and how to capture these in a personal statement, as well as giving time for hands-on, collaborative interview prep. Oxbridge English is all about demonstrating passion and genuine interest in the subject, and fuelling this passion as well as providing the skills for success are instrumental to my teaching process.
