About Joanne
I am a fully qualified teacher with a degree in psychology, a PGCE in special needs and level 5 teaching mathematics In lifelong learning. I am also TEFL qualified. I have designed courses for adults working towards independence and personal development. I have delivered support on one to one bases, inside and outside the classroom. For many years I taught functional mathematics to both ESOL and mainstream learners within an FE setting.

The teaching of functional mathematics would take the form of an opener .. short activity to stimulate interest and get the brain working. This would be followed by an introduction to the topic with a modelled method, lots of Q&A to ascertain learning. Practice, paired work and group work followed by activated independent learning. Lots of fun and activities that are conducive to learning taking place.
