About Dave
I received my BFA in Media Arts and Animation September 2007 at The Art Institute of Atlanta. I've had the privilege to work with known music producers at Fire-Flame Productions in the Winter of 2009 I was the Lead Animator/Multimedia Designer I developed a 3D animated short with the use of Maya and Adobe Premiere. Also provided the lighting, texturing, compositing, character animation, modeling and rigging. I was the Lead Character Animator/Project Manager at Earth One Studios. Successfully completed the Rigging, Texturing and Animation for a short 3D Music Video with the use of Maya and Adobe Premiere. The project also entailed Character Designs, 3D Modeling, Turn-arounds and Lip Syncing. I've had the opportunity to be on the panel and attend various speaking engagements in regard to character animation.

Character Personality, and Facial Expressions Live Workshops - Host weekend on Zoom or in-person. - Topics include Animating Emotion, Lip Syncing, Body Mechanics etc Curriculums Include - Animating Believable Weight - Pose to Personality: Character Acting Essentials - Fixing Common Animation Mistakes Character Animation Lesson Plan Example Lesson Title: Understanding Arcs Duration: 90 minutes Learning Objectives By the end of the lesson, students will: • Understand the mechanics of arcs in motion • Apply personality traits to modify movement • Create a basic expressive gesture using key poses and timing. Materials Needed • Animation software (e.g., Toon Boom, Blender, Maya) • Pre-rigged character model • Reference videos or GIFs of various walk styles • Drawing tablet (optional) Lesson Breakdown 1. Warm-Up & Review (10 min) • Quick sketching exercise: draw 3 poses that show different emotions. • Review previous lesson (if applicable): timing charts, spacing, or squash/stretch. 2. Concept Introduction (15 min) • Explain arcs and anatomy: 4 main poses. • Show examples of neutral vs. stylized poses. • Discuss how posture, timing, and spacing convey personality. 3. Demonstration (20 min) • Live demo: animate body movements using keyframes. • Pause to explain placement, hip movement, arms swinging. 4. Student Practice (30 min) • Students create their own actions and chosen personality. • Encourage experimentation: exaggerate poses, adjust timing. • Real-time feedback or peer review. 5. Critique & Discussion (10 min) • Watch 2–3 student animations. • Discuss what works and what could be improved. • Highlight creative choices and technical execution. 6. Wrap-Up & Assignment (5 min) • homework: refine animation and add additional poses. • Optional: submit for critique in next session or upload to class forum. Optional Add-ons • Mini Challenge: Animate the face with visible expressions. • Quiz: Short quiz on animation principles (timing, arcs, anticipation). - The thing that sets me apart is the experience and the tricks I've acquired through the years. -My lessons are for beginners and novice level kids or adults.
