About Catherine

I am a native Spanish teacher with 15 years of experience teaching the European Spanish and Spanish from Latin America. I have a degree in journalism, an MA in Spanish Publishing and two Spanish poetry books published. I teach European Spanish for kids, adults and in-company as well as Latin American Spanish for people who would like to travel or work abroad. I base my classes on a tailor-made programme according to the students needs and level. Developing the 4 skills (speaking, reading, writing and listening) with multiple cutting edge and practical resources as well as teaching the culture and how to gain confidence.

About the lesson

Conducting online classes following a coursebook plus a high amount of speaking and grammar resources. Speaking: Conversation is key after learning a grammar or a vocabulary point. It aims at putting the new knowledge into practice. Speaking cards, debating and giving opinions, role plays, pictures and commenting feature articles are essential to gain fluency. Pronunciation: adding a bit of fun can make a real difference! Tongue twisters, songs or short stories help students articulating the words better as well as recognising the sounds/tone. Reading and comprehension: analysing texts, guessing the writer's opinion and understanding the real meaning according to the context of the sentence is crucial. Listening: a wide variety of multicultural listening material combined with follow-up exercises according to the student's level. Writing: learning to create short and different pieces of writing according to the student's needs (job emails, articles, reviews, business writing or feature articles). Others: Ss need to feel comfortable and enjoy the process of learning in order to gain confidence. They need to feel that learning is fun, practical and that goals are totally achievable!

Excellent! Catherine is helping my daughter prepare for her Spanish GCSE exams. Although my daughter finds learning difficult, Catherine is kind and patient and helps her to take in the information and practice her Spanish skills in a fun and constructive way.
