About Sam
I’m Sam, a student at Colchester Royal Grammar School, and I’ve been teaching languages to younger students with lunchtime support sessions for over a year, helping me gain experience for helping you. I’ve always loved teaching - I remember demonstrating the rules of SPaG and handwriting as a young boy to everyone from my mum to my teddy…
Many of you may be looking for a tutor because you simply need a different approach to your teachers’ to bring up your grades, which is an experience I share. I can’t promise that you’ll fall in love with the subject like I did (nowadays I help the school put on a foreign language production every year and I’m pursuing languages at A Level) but you’ll definitely come out a more competent linguist.
You may be interested if you’re simply up to the challenge, or want to go from being good to being great, in which case your primary concern is my ability to help. Well, I’m here to put skills I‘ve acquired in learning and tutoring into practice to help you out.

You likely have a busy enough life as it is, so I try to be as flexible as possible: I’ll use whichever video calling app you prefer, schedule class time for when and how often you want it and always be reachable via text, email or phone.
I try to learn how to help you engage best in learning, so I won’t conform to any particular ‘style’ of teaching, but in my experience in my school’s mentor and tuition programs (for which I won a Jack Petchey Award nomination), a well-made PowerPoint never seems to fail.
Likewise, I never build lessons to suit a time window; you choose the class duration and if you want homework. This if a life-saver for upcoming exams, because we can accommodate for the deadline (eg. adding in extra half-hour practice exams for the speaking paper).
I’m currently in Year 12 with a fresh memory of the last five years, so attention secondary students: I can offer you advice for exams and student life from a recent first-hand perspective.
However, to anyone interested, feel free to reach out!
