About Winnie

Hi, I'm Winnie, a native Chinese Malaysian who has a huge interest in Japanese and Japan's culture. I’m currently studying and living in Japan. I love teaching Japanese and would like to meet students who share the same interest as me!

About the lesson

*Only for students of 18 years old and above
* I only provide classes for those who seek long-term classes and/or hoping to pass JLPT N5-N3.

1. Before your first lesson, I usually offer a free consultation session to let me know better about your learning goals, preferred study methods, etc., and to let you know more about my lessons. (It is not a trial lesson)
2. I will be using Genki I for JLPT N5, Genki II for JLPT N4 and Quartet I for JLPT N3. You will have to buy both textbook and workbook for each level.
3. I can explain the lesson in English or Chinese, but the materials will be in English.
4. I will type in what you learned and did in the Google Docs during each class for record.
5. My classes focus not only on vocab and grammar but also speaking, writing, and listening skills. Other than that, my greatest strength is Japanese pronunciation/intonation so I’d usually place a lot of importance on that in my class.
6. I tend to give a lot of homework and quizzes to my students.
7. Class time is not fixed as you can book a time slot anytime you’re free to have class. But you have to make sure you finished your homework before the class.
8. I treat all my students as my friends so you can always talk to me freely :)

She was very patient with us and have prepared the learning materials very carefully. Even with prior experience to her classes, there is always something new to be learnt so it never felt boring at all. I think it would be the geishas as they represents Japanese beauty, modesty and politeness.

「継続は力なり」, which means 'practice makes perfect' in English.

I've always loved Japan's culture so speaking Japanese helps me to explore more of it.

I think the main difficulty in learning Japanese is improving your speaking skills. Using language exchange apps such as Hellotalk and Tandem helps a lot.
6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.
I always think that language learning is something that is never meant to be rushed. It takes time. A lot. But eventually it'll pay off.
7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
Travelling to Japan when I was only around the intermediate level made me realised that I need to study more in order to live in Japan someday.
