About Raphaella

Hi, I'm Rapha. I'm a fourth year student at Trinity College Dublin, studying International Relations

I've always loved English Literature, from getting lost in books to picking apart what makes a poem work, and that enthusiasm is a big part of why I got into tutoring the subject. I remember how much of a difference the right explanation at the right time made to my own results, and I enjoy helping students see the kind of detail and craft in a text that made me fall in love with reading in the first place. I went from struggling with essay structure to achieving a 9 at GCSE and an A at A Level, so I understand exactly where students often get stuck.

As a language student, I've had my fair share of tutoring sessions, and I know first-hand that a textbook simply can't do what a real conversation with an actual person can. I'm currently learning Arabic which keeps me firmly on the student side of the desk as well as the teaching side, and I try to bring the same patience and step-by-step approach to my lessons that I'd want from a tutor myself.

About the lesson

In my sessions I like to identify each student's specific weaknesses, whether that's essay structure, close reading, or exam technique, and build lessons around those gaps rather than following a fixed syllabus. I achieved straight A's at A Level, including English Literature, French and Italian. Having learnt other languages myself, I understand the specific challenges non-native speakers face with English and can adapt my explanations accordingly.

Lessons typically run 60 minutes and combine focused feedback on written work with targeted practice for upcoming assessments. As a final year student at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland's top-ranked university, I've developed strong academic writing skills through research-based, source-driven essays and referencing, which I can help other students apply to their own work, alongside solid grounding in GCSE and A Level English content and exam technique.

I work with students from Secondary school through to GCSE and A Level English exams, as well as adult learners and university students needing academic writing support.
