About Wayne

I have been teaching and playing music for over 20 years, having gained degree status and diploma status in classical guitar playing. I have mentored both adults and children through their grades and school exams with a 100% success rate.

About the lesson

I am a 44-year-old private music teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience and who hails from the North East coast of England. Music has for me been a lifelong passion. I started playing at a young age, becoming a fellow of the Victoria College of Music in London for classical guitar playing in 2001 and a graduate in 2015 of the Open University with a BA(Hons) first in humanities with music and history. I concentrate on all aspects of classical guitar playing to bring out the technical aspects as well as the musicality of the music, with focus also on sight reading, scales and musicianship. I also teach a wide variety of genres consistent with the Trinity College syllabus, such as blues, contemporary and folk music, to give the student a broad musical knowledge. My approach is to provide a fun, friendly and relaxed environment for teaching that will both support and motivate the student in their musical journey. For this, I utilise a wide range of teaching materials and multimedia outlets, such as apps, CDs, books and MP3s to maximise the learning potential of the student. I have a 100% pass rate for pupils taking practical and music theory exams. The first lesson is a free introduction. Tuition is provided online via Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom.

I have been attending lessons from Wayne now a couple of years. Started on Banjo then ukelele and progressed to guitar.
Wayne has brought so much out of my playing experience. Has taken time to teach me the correct way to play, no shortcuts allowed. I am now at a stage where I am not embarrassed to play in public, he has taught me the methods I need to know, which has given me so much confidence.
I would highly recommend Wayne as a tutor, he is professional and also patient, especially as I am an older student, never thought I would learn to [play a musical instrument in my 60s. I often hear the young students in his music room. he gets so much out of them, and they leave with a smile on their faces, says a lot a smile.
