I have been taking acting lessons with Ashley for some time now and I can truly say that he is a gem of a teacher!

I took part in 2 online productions with Ashley during the pandemic and they really brightened up my lockdown! I looked forward to the sessions every week and always got a boost from his energy. He gave us students lots of creative freedom but was brilliant at maintaining oversight, offering suggestions and bringing the whole thing together to create something we were all really proud of.

Ashley has been a constant throughout the pandemic and beyond. I’ve been taking lessons with him since March after a recommendation from another great tutor. His lessons have given me not only a larger insight of the craft, it helped me master my abilities and most of all boosted my confidence.
His lessons are always different, exciting and very detailed. It’s not plain acting or directing but a deeper study of characters and their needs, an ongoing exploration of every piece I’ve been given to bring me to my best performances.
He’ s also very attentive to your needs as person and not only as an actor and this is an added bonus as sometimes acting may be mentally exhausting.
We plan everything ahead, set goals but also feel free to wander and craft as much as possible and as my creativity and needs demand.

Ashley is an incredible teacher. I've had three classes with him and several drop-in sessions and I keep coming back, we all do. He is the best director I have worked with and his skill set is so diverse. He taught me how to act, how to prepare for an audition, how to write a story, a script, how to perform and most importantly how to be a polite human. I’ve participated in a play directed by Ashley last year in which he carefully guided the group through devising the piece and putting it on stage. I say carefully, because working with 13th actors of all ages and experience requires a diplomatic, yet rigidly structured approach where creativity is encouraged so long as there is willingless to develop trust in the director/ writer. Ashley naturally makes the latter an easy task from day one in the rehearsal room.
As a writing turor he knows how to approach a one-to-one process whereby the lessons are equally enjoyable and productive. He knows how to make the use of sessions so that every minute is worth it - something crucial especially for those who take classes as extracurricular activities. Lastly, his friendly and caring personality contributes to the ease of communication and the driv to learn develop in the creative world.
