About Micaela

From a young age, I've had a passion for teaching, learning & writing. I can recall spending rainy weekend afternoons playing school & formulating lessons for my 2 younger sisters in our attic hideaway.

After finishing my undergrad in journalism in 2018, I decided to take some time to travel and see what the world could offer me. What sparked my love for teaching was my time as an au pair of four young children in Northern Ireland. In Belfast, I not only worked for my host family but volunteered as a classroom assistant at a local primary school. After my time in Ireland, I've since returned to Canada, making my aspirations a reality. I'm currently teaching & coaching at St. Joseph's Catholic Secondary School as a French Immersion teacher.in oIn 2022, I received my teaching certification on the East Coast. I plan on living and teaching abroad in the next few years and receiving my Master's in Teaching. Being a teacher has been one of my greatest learning experiences thus far.

About the lesson

I believe connection is the core of everything I do as an educator. Having the opportunity to work one-on-one is all about working through problems together as a team. Every lesson I teach is student-centered. I cater to your learning style and preferences as a learner. To help understand who you are, I will first see how you fall onto a multiple intelligences-based survey. This will help in how I reach you, in my teachings. I believe learning is a collaborative experience and together, we will work to meet your expectations to reach your goals in collective learning. A typical lesson will engage prior knowledge, include some form of action (integrating a MINDS ON approach), and end with a consolidation & debrief (to see what was taken away). I'm quite big into games, for social studies & French to help solidify learning.
As per my qualifications, I am an Ontario & New Brunswick certified English & French teacher, with expertise in teaching Social Studies & Science as well at the Intermediate & Secondary level.
