About Helen
I'm passionate about writing of any kind! I have sharp grammar and reading skills and received a near-perfect score on the 2023 SAT Reading & Writing sections. Currently, I'm an editor-in-chief for NYU's Asian-American multimedia publication, Generasian, where I coordinate with writers to refine storytelling, voice, and details in their pieces. I'm also a student in NYU's Creative Writing minor program and am currently taking a high-level poetry workshop (and have taken a prose/fiction course in the past)!

I taught Helen in a creative writing workshop at NYU, where the students were required to do extensive readings, critique the readings, engage in class discussion, and write their own creative pieces, in addition to workshopping and editing their classmates' creative pieces. Helen was an exceptional student in the class. She was an incredibly strong reader, and always managed to pick up on subtleties in the text--across the fiction, poetry, and essays that we read-- and interpreted them sharply and insightfully. Her analytical writing was a pleasure to read, and in class discussions, she always helped push the conversation into new, deeper territory. Helen is also a talented creative writer; she is especially strong at crafting poignant images, and mixing the personal and universal. In workshop, Helen was a sharp and generous critiquer of other people's works; she always understood what her classmates were trying to accomplish in their writing, and supplied them with many creative ideas on how to reach their goals. On a personal level, Helen is a joy to be around; she is kind, generous, engaged, and thoughtful. I have no doubt that she will make an excellent tutor.
Amazing constructive comments. Her skill with writing and reading shines through her incredibly helpful advice!
Helen has helped me with academic writing across many disciplines. I've appreciated her feedback on structure and delivery, grammar and tone as well as content. Helen is able to help you identify key aspects of your paper you might be neglecting as well as highlighting areas for growth. I also really appreciate her commitment – she clearly invests time to understand the work deeply rather than providing superficial comments. Her thorough approach has consistently elevated the quality of my academic writing!! I can't recommend her enough!
I know Helen from both NYU's literary magazine club and our joint literary classes. In both the extracurricular and our classes, Helen has been a great resource for both editing and writing inspiration. She would give very detailed notes and suggestions that have genuinely improved my pieces. Her revisions were very substantial and carefully explained her suggestions. I would totally recommend Helen to any kind of writing tutoring!
