About Katie

I am currently a nursing student, substitute school teacher, and gymnastics coach. I work with all different ages from 3-18 and work with them to find the best, most fun, and easy way to learn.

I haven't had it easy growing up through learning being the "perfect" oldest child who struggled behind the scenes. I didn't get an ADHD diagnosis until around age 18 and since gaining the insight and strategies post diagnosis I have learned so much about the brain and learning. Sometimes the same methods that work for other children don't work for you and that's okay! When doing this I want to base it on the idea that the methods of learning aren't a simple standard that everyone follows and it's okay to have to find a different technique in order to succeed!

About the lesson

subjects: elementary/middle school math, reading, science and writing

I can help tutor really any ages pre K through 8th grade! I understand that every child learns differently so my lessons and techniques for teaching will truly depend on the person.

Before starting I would like to have a 5-10 minute brief conversation with the parent (or the child if older) to gain a little more insight on the child, how they learn best, and what they are struggling with. Sometimes it's not that the child doesn't understand but they don't have a method of learning that works for them and I want to not only help with the struggle in knowledge but also give them strategies to help them learn.
