About John
My name is John Jenkins, I am a 2nd year Nuclear Engineering student at University Centre Somerset. I am also the vice president for the student union here.
When home, I enjoy volunteering at the local fire station as a fire cadet instructor. I am an eager, confident and knowledgeable in what I study.
My interests at university include Formula 1 and rugby, and my hobbies include boxing, buhurt and playing chess.

A lesson involves the student going through one or two key mathematical concepts.
Every student is different, and there isn't a one size fits all guide for tutoring. Being a successful tutor means understanding the mathematical principles the student is struggling with, and helping them understand how to improve.
Mathematics is similar to a card tower. Imagine the top layers of the tower being your GCSE and A-level studies. It's important to recognise the need for the lower layers in the card tower, or the top layers will crumble.
When tutoring, experience has shown me students don't fully understand the fundamental principles of maths, hence the more complicated parts are completely not understandable.
My job as your tutor is to ensure the base of the students card tower is fully intact, and to work upwards.
