About Guy
My work:
I am a clinical scientist within the NHS, working in the medical physics department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. My specialist topic is medical imaging with non-ionising radiation, which requires expertise in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound physics.
My education:
I received my first-class undergraduate degree in physics from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2019. I am currently undertaking part time postgraduate study in medical physics at King's College London, as a supplement to my job.
My teaching experiences:
I have tutored students in physics and maths. I noticed quickly during my time at university that I was good at explaining complex concepts to my peers. I have also given educational talks to colleagues at the hospital, in order to improve their understanding of MRI physics.

My lessons are mostly given to GCSE and A-level students, but I am happy helping anybody who needs some help with understanding any mathematical or scientific concept, such as simple algebra or arithmetic to a younger student.
I like to base my teaching style around what I have found most useful for my own studies. Whenever a new concept is introduced, I endeavour to explain its origins and purpose, before encouraging the student to attempt as many example questions as possible.
When providing the solution to a question that the student may be stuck on, at first I provide small hints as to what they may be missing. Being able to think around a problem for yourself is a key skill to learn. If they are still unable to complete the question, I would provide a full detailed solution, and explain the reasoning of each stage. I employ this methodology because a full understanding is the key to remembering and being able to apply these concepts in a range of scenarios.
Lessons will typically be 1 hour in length.
