About Rubina

I am a graduate of Kings College London with three degrees in Chemistry: B.Sc (Hons) 2:1, Master of Science in Chemistry with Distinction, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Chemistry from the University of London.

I helped undergraduate students during my Masters and PhD when I would demonstrate the inorganic chemistry undergraduate practical courses, and mark the experiments of the first year undergraduate groups I would oversee.

My first experience of tutoring happened a couple of years ago when I helped a friend's daughter with her GCSE Science paper. Currently, I am about to start volunteering to gain some experience in teaching. This will be at a local secondary school in East London where I will also be able to tutor the students who are approaching their A2 exams. This is how I have come to be part of this site. It is a big jump from setting up and running a business on the Roman Road to helping individuals or groups of students with their studies.

In some ways, they are both about providing a good service and doing so to the best of one's ability. I will be aiming to do my best to encourage learning and to provide a good understanding of the fundamentals of chemistry and biology. Not only that, I will also like to help students to realise their goals, no matter how old they are, and to help those whose experiences have brought them back to study again. As long as one applies oneself, anything can be achieved.

Rubina tutored me for a few days of intensive revision whilst I was studying for my IGCSE science exams in Chemisty, Biology and Physics. The tuition was extremely helpful, and having really struggled with these subjects, getting E and D grades in November mock exams she helped me to improve my grade to an A in all three exams. We predominantly worked though past exam papers, with her thoroughly and clearly explaining areas that I was particularly weak in, using questions from textbooks.
