About Thomas
I am a third-year PhD student in Pharmacology and Neuroscience. I began tutoring in 2019 where I first helped students with their high school math and English composition classes.
Since becoming a graduate student, I have had formal mentoring experience with Project SHORT, an organization providing pro bono consulting for students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are applying for graduate and medical school. With Project SHORT I have advised several students on all aspects of their graduate school applications, from program selection to meticulous proofreading and editing of essays and personal statements.
Further, as a PhD student, I excel in academic writing. I've authored and published two peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, with several more in preparation or currently under review. Additionally, I have submitted grant applications and participated in the peer-review processes as a reviewer for cognitive neuroscience articles.

I have over five years of tutoring experience in a wide range of subjects including writing, calculus, and biology. Additionally, I have two years of experience in helping high school and college students preparing for their applications to college and graduate school.
I really enjoy working with students of all levels and providing tailored sessions with constructive feedback. I frequently take the time to carefully review each student's writing and offer in-depth explanations for each edit or suggestion. Further, I can provide examples to help students learn to use appropriate voice, wording, grammar, etc.
