About James
I am a neuroscience graduate and a former mental health nurse with over 20 years of clinical experience, along with a postgraduate certificate in vocational rehabilitation. My background combines academic study with real-world clinical practice, particularly in areas such as cognitive psychology, integrative neuroscience and therapeutic communication.
I take a personalised and supportive approach to tutoring, beginning by identifying each student’s learning style and cognitive strengths. This allows us to develop clear ways of understanding complex concepts and building confidence in academic work.
I particularly enjoy supporting university students studying psychology, neuroscience and health-related subjects, including those working on research methods, assignments or exam preparation. My clinical experience in psychiatric nursing also helps connect theoretical knowledge with practical understanding in real-world settings.

My lessons focus on helping students understand complex psychological and neuroscience concepts in a clear and practical way. I start by identifying how you learn best so that we can work with your individual learning style and cognitive strengths.
Sessions typically last around 45–60 minutes and are particularly helpful for university students studying psychology, neuroscience or health-related subjects. I can support students with understanding course material, structuring assignments, preparing for exams and developing effective study strategies.
With a background in neuroscience and over 20 years of experience as a former mental health nurse, I bring both academic knowledge and practical insight into how psychological and neurological concepts apply in real-world settings.
