About Josh
I’m a neurobiology graduate and an incoming medical student (Fall 2026) with a passion for science and helping others understand it. I’ve spent years in research labs studying metabolic disease and neuroimaging, and I’ve written thousands of reports as a toxicology project manager. Teaching and tutoring have always been a big part of my life. I’ve worked as a K–12 substitute teacher and helped students at all levels, from middle school to college, in biology, chemistry, physics, and math. I like to make complex topics approachable by breaking them down step by step and showing how the concepts connect to real-world examples. My goal is to help students build confidence, think critically, and develop skills they can carry into future classes. I enjoy seeing students have those “aha” moments when things click, and I tailor every lesson to what each student needs to succeed.

My tutoring approach is structured, interactive, and tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on clear explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and reinforcing fundamental concepts before moving to advanced material. I love visual aids, diagrams, practice problems, and real-world examples from research to make complex science topics more accessible. A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material, followed by targeted instruction on new concepts. Students then apply what they’ve learned through guided practice, problem sets, or discussion questions. I conclude with a summary and actionable next steps to reinforce retention and confidence. I set myself apart through extensive experience with higher-level science, including biology, chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, neurobiology, physiology, and physics, as well as practical experience explaining technical material to diverse audiences. Lessons are designed for middle school through college-level students, especially those preparing for advanced science courses, AP classes, or undergraduate-level material.
