About Lily Rose
A little bit about me - I am 24 years old from Monaghan, Ireland.
I have always had a passion for creative writing and books from a young age. The first book that was ever read to me was Charlotte's Web! I think reading is one of the best interests a person can have, it deepens your worldly knowledge, feeds your imagination and expands your vocabulary and spelling substantially.
In primary school I entered the Lena Mackrel Poetry Competition with a poem called "The Hand of the Sea" in my local town and came second place. In secondary school I was successful in having my short story published in an anthology called Spine Chillers; Northern Ireland Terrors. These days, I continue to write. I regularly enter short story and poetry competitions and I often support friends and family with academic work, particularly in improving writing, grammar, spelling, and textual analysis.
I also struggled myself with literacy in primary school and needed additional help- it's ok, most of us do! I have always been grateful for this, however, as it really helped to blossom my skills in spelling, diction and grammar into what they are today.
With that said - I am here to help you in any way I can so please feel free to reach out and I look forward to working together!

Hi everyone!
I am a 2023 Law graduate with a strong academic background in English Literature and English Language at GCSE, and English Literature at A Level. I have a genuine passion for literature & language, with particular strengths in creative writing, spelling, and in-depth analysis of texts and poetry. I have studied various texts e.g. Shakespeare, Chaucer, Novels e.g. To Kill a Mockingbird, Juno and the Paycock and poetry e.g. Heaney, Thomas Hardy
I tutored KS3 English for a year as part of a mentoring scheme in secondary school and I have also provided guidance and advice to students of GCSE up to Third level students.
For classes, I will ask in advance what the student is currently studying so that I can prepare the materials and texts in order to utilize the class time effectively. A typical lesson begins with a brief overview of our focus, along with an opportunity for the student to highlight any areas they’d like extra support with. From there, we work through the material together in an interactive way. I encourage active participation by asking questions throughout, rather than simply lecturing, to ensure understanding and engagement. I also place emphasis on writing things down, as this helps reinforce learning and provides useful notes to revisit later.
I will go through the material and any particular areas of difficulty in meticulous detail and answer any questions the student may have. I will use mind maps for character/scene analysis, give detailed explanations of how to use critical analysis in essays and deconstruct poetry/text to explain plot points and writing techniques, meaning the student will gain confidence in understanding Literature and find it less daunting.
I specialize in breaking down complex material into clear, understandable ideas, helping students uncover deeper meaning and build confidence in their interpretation skills. My lessons are carefully structured to make the most of our time together, while still being flexible to suit each student’s individual learning style, whether that is visual, verbal, or a combination of both.
I am a patient, supportive, and understanding tutor, and I am always happy to revisit topics as many times as needed until my students feel confident and comfortable.
I primarily tutor primary, GCSE, and A Level students (or equivalent), but I am also open to supporting degree-level work depending on the subject matter.
Feel free to get in touch if you’re interested or have any questions!
