About Atwood

Why am I qualified to do this? Simple, since I was very little I have loved math, and it’s not because I was some gifted kid, it was because I had an amazing teacher. I’ve not only been trained in how to tutor effectively but also I’ve seen amazing examples of how to get kids, of all ages, excited about math. Though my “actual” qualifications for this job include 2 years of tutoring while undergoing training on how to tutor, and then 5 years of additional tutoring most of which I did for free through a program at my high school. And trust me when I say I’ve seen it all, I’ve tutored everyone, from kids who didn’t think numbers were real, to high school seniors who didn’t know how to divide and with my help they were able to pass pre-calc with a B or higher.

About the lesson

My philosophy is that math is made to be understood, and that anyone and everyone can do it. The problem is most people never got a good foundation in the basics. So in any complex math, they don’t stand a chance. The good news is, the basics are easy, and once you know them, I promise you math will not only be made MUCH easier, but also fun. And aside from having a deep understanding of math, I’ve been a kids' party entertainer for years, and know how to keep anyone engaged in the most boring of things. So if you want a math tutor that can do magic tricks and make you balloon animals, I’m your guy!

Atwood was one of the best tutors I've had, and I've had many. They single handedly helped me pass a math class I was very close to failing. Atwood is very patient and supportive, but doesn't let you get away with asking for the answer like so many tutors do. They really get to the root of misunderstanding, explain, and help you through it in a way that's clear to understand. I would highly recommend them!!
