About Angelina

I'm Angie, an 18 year old currently living in Surrey. I have just completed my IB diploma at a leading school in London where I was a vice-captain of school. I am looking forward to studying natural sciences next year, having received offers from 5 universities, including Cambridge University and Imperial College London. In particular, I have a keen interest in the biological sciences, however I have always loved studying a broad range of subjects, hence my decision to study the International Baccalaureate rather than A levels. This has allowed me to study chemistry, biology, maths, English, French and philosophy all to a high level. I want to share my love for these subjects, and allow all students to enjoy them and excel at them, even if they seem daunting at the moment. I really believe that in the right environment, any student can thrive.

I also love sports, including hockey, athletics and rowing, and play the flute and piano.

About the lesson

Having recently completed my IB exams in 6 subjects, I am well aware of the strain that students can be under whilst studying, and having helped many of my friends and classmates throughout secondary school, I believe I'm an approachable person. To me, this is key in providing a comfortable environment, in which students can feel confident asking questions, as well as being challenged and improving. I find this vital in ensuring that each session is productive and worthwhile for them.

In terms of experience, I tutored students from an international school in Bangkok online last year, specifically in maths (at GCSE level) having applied for a scheme through my school, as well as tutoring an individual in the year below me in maths and all three sciences. Each week for the last two years I have also led engaging science lessons to primary school students. At my previous school, I attained a 'Language Leader' award, which involved leading both group and individual lessons in French.

Already being confident in maths and chemistry (entering my first year at Cambridge University in September), these experiences have allowed me to develop my skills as a mentor, ensuring that I feel confident in tutoring students of any age. For maths this would range from primary level to GCSE. Whilst chemistry is only taught from secondary level for the majority of students, I'd also be happy to teach general sciences at primary level.

Depending on the student's needs, lessons can range from 30 minutes to an hour. Rate may vary on the level being taught.
