About Xavier
I am a Classics graduate from the University of Birmingham and I did a Year Abroad at Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador, where I studied international relations, history and economics in Spanish, meanwhile greatly broadening my cultural experience of the Spanish speaking world. I also have interned for the UN Office of Drugs and Crime for the Latin America and Caribbean region, a role in which I almost exclusively used Spanish in a formal setting and translated documents between English and Spanish. I am passionate about tutoring because I enjoy communicating in clear and coherent ways, and identifying the specific struggles of each student to re-explain the subject in a way that makes sense to them.

I teach using a positive reinforcement methodology and encourage critical thinking to solve problems. I will identify where you struggle most in listening, reading, writing and speaking, and focus the lesson on developing your knowledge of the required content, and building your confidence in using the language fluently. As a native Spanish speaker and graduate of degree where I was assessed in the Spanish language, I can teach and tutor any aspect of the language, including essay writing. My lessons are intended for people of any age, whether you are needing practice before your GCSE’s, or are an adult looking to improve your capacity to speak Spanish.
