About Leonardo

My main career is focused on leading product development of convenient tools for customers in Spanish and French. To complement my research and passion for languages I would like to tutor Spanish at the intermediate to advanced and even academic Spanish. I am a native speaker born in Mexico and raised in a fully bilingual household in Florida, USA.

Academics: I have an MBA from Harvard and a BA in Economics from Stanford.

Work experience: 7+ years in the tech industry focusing on strategy and operations plus product development.

About the lesson

My primary goal as a language tutor is to infuse my lessons with the vantage point of a product manager. I will take notes and observations in our first meetings to assess your level of Spanish based on the rigor of the DELE Spanish test. Or, if you prefer a more experimental way of learning Spanish we can focus on conversational situations. It all depends on your goals and your baseline level.

Here's a schema of a typical lesson plan:

Lesson Title: Spanish Language

Objective:

To integrate Spanish language learning with insights from product management.
To assess the student's Spanish proficiency level using DELE Spanish test standards or through conversational situations.
To tailor the lesson content based on the student's goals and baseline level.

Materials Needed:
Digital whiteboard (Miró)
Marker pens
Relevant Spanish language materials (texts, articles, videos)
Laptop or tablet for accessing online resources
DELE Spanish test sample materials (if applicable)

Lesson Plan:

Introduction (5 minutes):
Greet the student and engage in small talk to create a comfortable learning environment.
Discuss the goals and preferences of the student regarding language learning and product management integration.
Explain the assessment process, either through DELE Spanish test standards or conversational evaluation.

Assessment (10 minutes):
Conduct the assessment based on the agreed-upon method (DELE test or conversational situations).
Take notes on the student's language proficiency, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
If using conversational situations, engage the student in dialogue to gauge their comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency.
Discussion on Product Management Perspective (10 minutes):
Introduce key concepts of product management, such as market research, product development lifecycle, customer feedback, etc.
Discuss how these concepts can be integrated into language learning, emphasizing practical applications and real-world scenarios.

Language Practice (20 minutes):
Based on the assessment, select language exercises and activities tailored to the student's proficiency level.
Incorporate vocabulary and phrases related to product management into language practice tasks.
Practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through interactive exercises, role-plays, and discussions.

Application Activity (15 minutes):
Present a scenario or case study related to product management in a Spanish-speaking context.
Guide the student to analyze the scenario, identify language learning opportunities, and propose solutions or strategies using Spanish language skills.
Encourage critical thinking and creativity in applying language knowledge within a product management framework.

Feedback and Wrap-up (5 minutes):
Provide feedback on the student's performance during the lesson, highlighting areas of improvement and commendable efforts.
Review key takeaways from the lesson, reinforcing language learning objectives and product management insights.
Discuss the plan for the next lesson, considering the student's progress and learning goals.
