About Yi

Hello! My name is Yi Long (Betty) and I’m originally from Beijing, China. I studied hospitality management in Switzerland and have been to different countries where I developed strong communication and cross-cultural skills. I have been passionate about teaching since high school, when I started working as a teaching assistant and continued tutoring through university. Currently, I live in Auckland and work as an early childhood educator, a role I truly love because it allows me to support children’s growth in a creative and nurturing environment. Teaching has always been meaningful to me—it’s not just about language, but about building confidence, curiosity, and connection. I want to share my native Mandarin language and cultural knowledge with students of all ages. Whether you’re a child just beginning to learn, or an adult eager to explore Chinese language and culture, I’m committed to helping you succeed in a friendly, patient, and professional way.

About the lesson

My lessons are always tailored to suit each learner’s age, level, and learning goals. I believe that language learning should be enjoyable, practical, and meaningful—whether you’re a young child just starting to explore Mandarin, or an adult learner aiming for conversational fluency or cultural understanding.

For children, I combine my early childhood teaching experience with fun, hands-on activities like songs, stories, games, and visuals to help them stay engaged while building strong language foundations. I focus on creating a warm and encouraging environment that supports confidence and curiosity.

For adults, I offer structured yet flexible lessons that can focus on speaking, listening, reading, writing, or any combination you prefer. Whether you're learning for travel, daily life, business, or personal interest, I adapt the pace and content to your needs. I also incorporate real-life examples and cultural insights to make each lesson relevant and rewarding.

With clear explanations, patient guidance, and a focus on progress, I aim to help every student enjoy their learning journey and feel proud of their achievements.
