About Yutian
Hi, I'm a native Mandarin speaker and a current University of Manchester student. I grew up speaking Mandarin every day, so it's not something I learnt from a textbook — it's my first language.
I teach because I know how frustrating it feels to want to say something in a new language and not be able to. I've been on that side too, learning English. So I don't teach by dumping grammar rules on you. I teach the way I wish someone had taught me: patiently, step by step, with plenty of chances to speak without feeling embarrassed about mistakes.
I'm not a professional teacher with decades of experience, and I won't pretend to be. What I offer is real, natural Mandarin, honest feedback, and a relaxed lesson where you can ask anything. I prepare each session properly and take your progress seriously.

I teach through conversation first, then build reading and writing around it. My method is simple: listen, repeat, use it in a real sentence, then review next lesson. I use pinyin, short dialogues, and everyday situations like ordering food, greeting people, or talking about your day. I correct gently and explain why, not just what.
Typical lessons run 45–60 minutes, once or twice a week.
I am a native Mandarin speaker and University of Manchester student, with experience helping friends and classmates with beginner Chinese. I teach beginners to intermediate, all ages, including complete beginners who have never studied Chinese before.
Lessons are friendly, low-pressure, and built around what you actually want to say.
