About Nakiya

I was born in a Swiss region near Milan, Italy, and grew up speaking Italian as my native language. In high school, I specialized in Italian studies, focusing on literary works and poetry, and later earned a degree with a concentration in languages. Having studied multiple languages —French, German, Spanish, and English—I understand the language-learning process from a student’s perspective and know which techniques are genuinely effective.
I also come from a family of teachers, and I have a natural inclination and the skills to help others learn efficiently.
I am committed to your success in learning Italian and strive to ensure you gain a deep understanding of the language.

About the lesson

My teaching method is highly adaptable to your individual needs and goals. If you're looking for a conversation partner to correct your mistakes in real time, I can provide that support; or, if you're starting from scratch, we’ll focus on fundamental grammar and essential vocabulary.

My typical lesson plan begins with setting either a goal for the day or an overarching goal across multiple sessions. For instance, if our goal is to master ordering food in a restaurant, we’ll explore the relevant vocabulary and delve into the necessary grammar to support that context.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my background as both a native Italian speaker and a language learner myself. Having studied multiple languages—French, German, Spanish, and English—I deeply understand the student perspective. I know what techniques are genuinely helpful, and I aim to teach in a way that emphasizes true comprehension over just memorization. I want you to understand the underlying principles of the language, so that even when you encounter unfamiliar words, you’ll have the tools to work through them.

My lessons are for learners at any level, from complete beginners (A1) to proficient speakers (C2). Together, we’ll assess your current skills and decide the best starting point to reach your desired fluency.
