About Corinne

I grew up in Switzerland and am a native German and Swiss German speaker. I have been living in the United States for over a decade, which gives me a strong understanding of both cultures and how language learning can feel when you’re balancing two worlds.

I also have an elementary-aged child myself, so I understand how important it is to support children in maintaining and strengthening their German — especially in bilingual households. I am patient, encouraging, and structured in my teaching approach, and I care about helping students feel confident and comfortable speaking German.

Whether you are an adult learner or a parent looking for support for your child, I aim to create a positive and supportive learning environment.

About the lesson

I offer personalized German lessons tailored to your goals; whether you’re a complete beginner, preparing for travel, improving your conversation skills, or strengthening your grammar. As a native German and Swiss German speaker, I help students build confidence step by step in a supportive and structured way.

A typical lesson includes conversation practice, vocabulary development, and clear grammar guidance with practical, real-life examples. My focus is on helping you actively speak and understand German, not just memorize rules. We move at your pace, and I adapt each session to what you need most.

I especially enjoy working with children and creating a positive, encouraging learning environment where they feel comfortable speaking without pressure. This is particularly helpful for children in immersion or bilingual settings, who often understand a lot but need support expressing themselves confidently.

With children, I incorporate storytelling, conversation, and interactive activities to build vocabulary, improve accuracy, and develop confidence in speaking, reading, and writing, always in a way that feels encouraging rather than like extra schoolwork.

For families, I can also serve as a supportive complement to what children are already learning at school or practicing at home. Whether a parent speaks some German or none at all, I help reinforce the language in a way that makes it easier to practice together and continue building skills between sessions.
