About Mark

Born in France from British parents 4 decades ago, I grew up bilingual and always had an affinity for languages, but more than anything foreign cultures. I love the arts and have a graduate degree in film production from Cuba. I have traveled to 20 different countries and lived in 8 of them. At each destination I either taught French, Spanish or English with similar methods that I have only improved over the years and that have proven themselves effective.

About the lesson

My immersion-based technique of teaching comes from experience learning Spanish. Learning the hard way... being thrown in the deep end of the pool. Having to swim. My gentle personality tends to soften the blow too. My culture-based methodology is also a plus. Using cinema, radio, literature, or any other form of Art, makes the learning experience fun and entertaining. I will use the material to broaden vocabulary and deepen the knowledge of grammar and syntax. I can teach all levels from 1st grade all the way to 12th, adapting the material to fit the need of each individual and their level.

I have known for over ten years. Mark makes learning foreign languages fun! He has extraordinary language skill, too. He speaks three languages!
Mark is able to connect to his students, to meet them where they are in terms of skills and to encourage their real progress. Mark Cresswell is more than a language teacher – he sees his students as individuals capable of achieving their goals.

As a colleague of Mark's, I can say Mark truly considers the needs of his students and meets them with great attention. Mark is a native French speaker who has been through the British education system and is culturally very open and aware. His pedagogy is enriched by his own academic and lifelong training as a human being and I know him to be an excellent, encouraging and humorous teacher.
