About Ruth

Hello my name is Ruth. I am originally from Sri Lanka, but I grew up speaking English all my life. I also lived in France during elementary and middle schools years; thus, I am fluent in French. I did my high school, undergraduate and graduate studies in the USA. I have been teaching French to both kids and adults in the USA since 2001. I started teaching ESL to Somali immigrants through a non-profit organization I was involved during my undergraduate studies years, and I taught for about four years. I finished my TEFL certification in 2003 through my university. Since then, I have traveled to Bangladesh, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia to teach English to both children and adults. I also privately taught and tutored English to young adults and adults hailing from Argentina, South Korea, Turkey, and Saudi students. I have also had the privilege of teaching English Language Arts the U.S. public school for elementary age students. During my eight years of professional work at Apple, I worked in French and English working with customer and developers globally. I currently live and work in Morocco teaching English to teenagers and adults.

Additionally, I have been privately teaching French to individuals for the past twenty years at all levels of English including just conversational.

About the lesson

Need a French tutor for you or for your child? Then, I'm the person for you! I grew up in Paris, France where I went to school; thus, I am completely fluent in French. Teaching French is easy because I love the language but also because I can relate to the French culture having grown up in Paris. I am very passionate about teaching, as I have a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate where I have taught foreigners how to improve their English; thus, working with people who need language assistance even in French is something I can do. Additionally, I have taught French for both adults and kids in the past. We get to know each other, see where the needs are, try out different methods of learning until the student is comfortable with a specific methods. I teach reading, writing, listening, speaking, and understanding.
