About Nathan
To be frank, I didn't want to be a teacher. But when a friend travelled South America, he needed his job covering whilst away and I happily obliged. The moment I entered the classroom, I felt right at home.
This led me to discover counselling and therapy, and I began to develop my practice around really listening to what my students wanted to learn. Naturally, some don't want to learn anything, but even asking why they find a subject boring can open the door for further discovery.
Having that open dialogue between teacher and student I find incredible, and that is why I want to support students online. After COVID, how we learn is going to need to change, and this is where I think remote learning (and myself) come into play.

Hello! I'm Nathan Dean, a tutor and trainee counsellor based in Lincolnshire.
With experience working in a range of schools - whether that be secondary, sixth form, or SEN provisions - I found that the key way to get a student inspired is to follow their lead. Working with what inspires them (or the exact opposite), I build the learning program about what initially interests the student, before shifting to the more formalised models so they receive all the knowledge they need for their studies, exams. If learning for pleasure, the same applies, taking your interests and navigating these together through discovery and guidance.
With a background in counselling, I use my person-centered approach to create safe spaces for 1:1 learning, combining what I have learnt from both educational and therapeutic provisions to inspire you with what you want to discover & learn.
