About Selene

Many of my friends at university have explained to me that their French teachers were not particularly skilled or effective in transmitting their French linguistic knowledge. In high school, I was lucky to have an excellent English teacher who made me progress a lot; I want to pass on his teaching techniques to my students: placing a particular emphasis on oral comprehension, oral expression, or any other category (grammar, spelling).

I always listen to my students if they have specific needs, it’s about making them progress!

About the lesson

Being French myself, I am a French teacher who combines enthusiasm, patience, and experience. My deep understanding of French grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, coupled with my ability to make learning fun and accessible, sets me apart. I adapt my teaching methods to the learning style of each student, ensuring that they not only learn French but also develop a love for the language. My goal is to inspire confidence in my students, helping them to progress quickly and achieve their language learning goals. Having obtained 18/20 in the French baccalaureate and being a master’s student in law, my analytical skills and rigour are refined!

Teaching technique: each method is unique to my student, as every student is different. I mainly consider the student’s difficulties (whether oral or written).

A typical lesson: first, I ask the students if they have any homework I can help with. Then, I ask them if they want to work on something in particular. Next, I focus on the points where they have the most difficulties. Finally, I discuss recent news events with them (depending on their level).
This is subject to change if the student has any specific recommendation.

Specificities: I am bilingual in French / English and I am a law master’s student at Queen’s Mary; I also obtained 18/20 in the French baccalaureate, and a 2.1 for a double degree in French Law and English Law at the University of Essex and Université Toulouse Capitole.

Type of students: I teach students of all ages and types! Whether you took French as a second language in secondary school or if you simply want to learn how to speak French, I am here to help you!
