About Mason
My name is Mason Feagan, and I am a high school English instructor seeking to teach upper-level ELA at a diverse, inclusive, and social-justice–oriented high school. In my current position, I serve as a long-term substitute, teaching English 12 at St. Martin De Porres High School. Following the College Board curriculum, I teach two sections of English Language & Composition and serve as the head tutor for the department. In my previous lead-teacher role, I taught two sections of British Literature and two sections of AP Literature & Composition at T-Squared Honors Academy. In this position, I utilized CCSS and AP College Board standards to curate original curricula for 11th- and 12th-grade ELA. In the classroom, I deliver instruction on high-concept literary and language standards using a mixed, balanced approach that includes direct instruction, collaborative methods, discovery learning, independent learning, reflection, assessment, and project-based learning. I frequently assess and formally analyze student data to determine progress and adjust instruction using informed decisions. As the classroom teacher, I also regularly communicate with parents via school email or phone regarding academic or behavioral concerns, classroom updates, commendations, and reminders of due dates for major assignments. Outside of the classroom, I engage in various after-school activities, including the tutoring program, National Honors Society, and student advising. In the summer of 2024, I worked diligently to lead the first Advanced Placement (AP) program at T2 Honors Academy. As the teacher of record, I built an AP team and used AP Classroom to assess students and analyze data. Furthermore, I collaborated with programs such as College Now to maximize post-graduation opportunities for high school students. Through these extracurricular experiences, I am confident in my ability to manage senior class activities—or other high school class activities—in addition to my course load. Additionally, due to my interest and professional experience in the English language, I would welcome the opportunity to strengthen the school community by taking on a leadership role in the school newspaper, debate team, film club, or, in the future, as English department chair. I completed my student teaching experience at John Marshall School of Engineering, where I taught four sections of English III—a course that explores individual identity within society, social dilemmas, and the progression of American literature throughout history. In this course, students examined their identities in relation to the American Dream. Through our study of dystopian literature, students also critically investigated local and global issues and proposed academically informed solutions. Now more than ever, I firmly believe in teaching students both academic and life skills that serve individuals and their communities. I have always held the conviction that the youth in our country can enact empowering change in the future of our nation and that education is paramount to fostering a successful, community-based mindset. Beyond national issues, American students’ awareness of social concerns—such as mental health, race, and social class—has consistently emerged as a central theme in my classes. Through my classroom experiences thus far, I have learned that I excel in collaboration, cultivating empowerment and growth, and challenging myself and others to create nuanced solutions to complex problems. I am confident that my intrapersonal, communicative, and analytical skill set would have a positive impact on your school community. If selected for the position, I look forward to serving as a reliable and essential asset to the school. Additionally, I am eager to collaborate with colleagues as I continue to advance my career goals and grow as an educator.

Mr. Feagan is a cool teacher, he’s very lenient and honest. He’s one of the school’s newer teachers and the entire grade already really likes him for his relatability and humor, I feel like I can go to him for a lot of things and yeah, he’s a cool guy
I think Mason is a trustworthy teacher because he is very kind and helpful. He tries his best connect with students and help them the best way he can . He is one of my favorite teachers this year even though i don’t have him in a class. He always says hi to me and when he subbed in one of my spanish classes he really helped me .
He is trustworthy because of course he has a job to do but he also sits there and listen as if he was a friend and he always made sure that if anyone is struggling or need help he will do as much as he can to help and make sure that everyone is good Mr.Feagan is always there when you need him!
I think he is a worthy teacher because he is patient, and he walks us through the work when it's confusing for us. He is very supportive because when I was frustrated about a writing assignment, he talked to me and told me that he was here to help me with anything. I was happy that he said that to me and understood what I was feeling and reassured me. He is very understanding and honest with us students, and I am very happy to have him as a teacher.
I highly recommend Mason as an English teacher! He was my 11th grade English 3 teacher and become my 12th grade AP teacher. He’s very kind and patient with all of his students and has so many creative ways of teaching. Although some lessons were challenging, Mason took the time to make sure we understood them. He does teaching but he also helps you mentally. Great person to talk to if ever needed!
Mason is a very trustworthy teacher because of hum never judging his students or what they do.
He so nice and caring and you can have a nice conversation and he relates to the students really well and gives good advice.
Mason is a trustworthy teacher because he’s always being fair and consistent with his students. He would never make no one feel dumb for asking questions or asking for an understanding and this makes it easier to learn in class and speak up in class.
I think Mr. Feagan is a trust worthy teacher because if he sees you are upset or sad, he will come and check on you and not make it a scene. He actually cares about his students. He is also very helpful. He is a great teacher!
I know Mason because he’s my teacher, and I’ve had him for a while now. Mason is the type of teacher that actually cares if you understand and doesn’t rush through things. He’s patient and explains stuff in a way that never makes you feel less smart. I recommend him to be a tutor on Superprof because he really wants his students to do better and believe in themselves. He’s trustworthy because he always shows up, puts effort into teaching, and makes sure you feel supported while you’re learning.
