About Jie
Born in New York, I have travelled and lived in different countries like Portugal, China, India. When living in the U.S., I worked with a literacy NGO called Tompkins Learning Partners based in Ithaca, NY. Then, I worked as an educator-anthropologist in India and taught English to both students and teachers in an alternative school in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Later, I served as an English teaching volunteer with a program developed by Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. B.A. in Economics from Ithaca College (U.S.A.), M.A. in Communication and Culture from York U. (Canada).

I firmly believe that learning should be both engaging and fun! Through explorations of poetry, literature, phonetics, and/or topics that could spark the student's interests in English language learning. I can work with both adults, adolescents, and children in speaking, reading, and writing. The first lesson is free, as I need to assess whether we'll get along and if I can provide support for the student's English language learning progress. If so, we can then figure out a way and schedule to move forward on this collaborative learning journey.
