About Derek
I love all aspects of music and enjoying different instruments and love to inspire others on their own musical journeys. I have been playing various instruments for 20-30 years and have performed in numerous solo and ensemble settings in that time.

I teach beginners to advanced from age 6 upwards. I like to balance playing by ear/memory with learning to read music and normally use graded exam materials as a focus and tool to develop relevant techniques. Lessons can be 30min, 45 min or 1 hour. I have been teaching full time for six years (and part-time for many before that) I have a BA in Music Performance and have achieved grade 8 level in guitar, bass guitar and drums.
