About Andrew

I'm a musician myself with almost 25 years of overall experience. 10 of those years I've been more directly active in the world of music. This past summer even, I took the summer "off" to teach music at a summer camp for teenagers in Maine, and in/around then, I've played many shows so not only do I have the practical skills/knowledge of the instruments I'm offering here, I also have real world experience too. So, taking lessons from me will give you the insights of what I've learned over the years to, for instance, what I just did at a live show a week ago that hopefully ties into the lessons.

About the lesson

For beginner Bass Lessons, I'll go over the various parts of the electric bass, what tuning a bass normally "sits" in, what note values are and their differences from each other (whole notes, quarter notes, half notes, eighth notes, etc), and eventually getting you playing your first song.

Before all of that however, I like to get to know my students and get an idea as to what (if any) their musical background is, what they like to listen to, whether they have a favorite artist (or song). Having been on the student end of lessons, I generally understand how students think (especially considering everyone learns things differently), and I feel I can connect very easily to my students as well.

The same general process applies for beginner ukulele and beginner guitar lessons with the idea that, hopefully, my student has access to a ukulele or an acoustic guitar (electric will work too as the basics can easily transfer from acoustic to electric or vice versa).
