About Joseph

I am a lifelong musician. I started writing music when I was 8 years old. I began training on flute in 3rd grade, and then subsequently began training on classical double bass in 4th grade. I continued classical training on double bass, with a focus in orchestral studies, throughout my adolescence until I was 20.

I was originally self-taught as a vocalist, but after being a member of esteemed choral organizations such as the Denver Gay Men's Chorus and the Maryland Allstate Choir, I have embarked on studying vocal pedagogy in my spare time.

When it comes to guitar, I am 100% self-taught. I began teaching myself acoustic guitar when I was 14, and practice at least 25 hours every single week.

As a songwriter, I focus on folk and pop stylings. I began writing autobiographical songs when I was 8 years old, and expanded into more complex chord structures and ambitious arrangements from teenagehood on. I pride myself on the music I write, and I believe that I am a good tutor in the realm of composition.

Like I mentioned previously, I am always into the prospect of individual structuring in my lessons. Every student is different and requires different needs.

I have performed my own music on a variety of instruments at different venues. I performed my single "I've Changed, Baby!" on the main stage at Denver PrideFest 2023. I also am a big proponent of the DIY scene, and perform at house shows several times each month. As a member of the queer community, I believe I am a patient and accepting mentor, who will always make people feel welcome and not judged!
