About Devan
Hello! My name is Devan, and I am a BS/MSE candidate in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. I know—it’s a mouthful! I first started helping my peers in math when I was a Freshman in high school. Now, here I am almost eight years later with that same passion and love for teaching. I’ve had the privilege of helping dozens of students grow their confidence in math and achieve their dream scores on the SAT and ACT. In my free time, I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen (it doesn’t always work out), going out with friends, and binge-watching comedies. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you get one step closer to achieving your dreams!

I utilize a personalized socratic-style, discussion-based approach that encourages critical thinking with the mindset that it’s okay to make mistakes. Making mistakes is essential to learning, as mistakes are often the key to deeper retention of content. I teach my students strategies to prevent errors and also to learn from them, as I strive to set them up for future success with a stable foundation. I also take great pride in getting to know my students so that I can better tailor my teaching and provide them with insight based on my own experiences.
